Renovation and major reworking of the existing ground floor and addition of a first floor. The existing house was cold, dark, claustrophobic and did not connect with the landscape. Part of the brief was for a ‘rustic barn-like’ building that was smart, simple and light-filled. The clients, who are professional cooks and caterers, needed a house that would function equally as a family home and for entertaining large numbers of guests both indoors and outdoors.
“Bohdan is a local building designer who was introduced to us by our builder. We had spoken to other designers before, but from the moment Bohdan came in we knew he was the person who would design our dream home, and that he did. Our house was not conventional, it needed to be designed for not only our family, but also for our business. Each time we suggested ideas Bohdan understood exactly what we needed. He was so patient, and really showed an emotional connection to the house. We now live in our dream house of which we are still in complete awe, and welcome Bohdan back to his home to show anyone his fantastic work.”
